Former Anambra state governor and the vice-presidential candidate of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the 2019 elections, Peter Obi has asked for transparency from the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration over funds meant for Nigerians during this Coronavirus pandemic.
Obi urged the Federal Government of Nigeria, agencies involved in the COVID-19 funds to be accountable in the use of the same.
He noted that handling of the funds received from individuals and organizations as support to citizens amid the pandemic must be transparent to Nigerians.
News Nigeria understands that individuals, firms, religious leaders and agencies have donated a huge sum of money to the Federal government of Nigeria to help in the fight against Coronavirus.
It could be recalled that the European Union (EU) not left out, recently donated the sum of €50 million to the country as support for combating the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.

He added, “In essence, Nigerians should be carried along on the inflow and outflow of #COVID19 funds – as well as a breakdown of all such expenses.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian Governors have praised the richest black man in the world, Aliko Dangote and members of the Coalition against COVID-19 (CACOVID) for their contributions to the country’s efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
