Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Spanish club Atlético Madrid, Thomas Teye Partey is at the verge of joining Premier League club, Arsenal FC on transfer deadline day.
A source confirmed that Arsenal have notified Atletico Madrid of their readiness to pay Partey’s £45 million release clause.
News Nigeria understands that 27-year-old player was one of the two midfielders Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta was looking at signing to boost his squad this summer. The gunners had decided to make a switch for Partey after their efforts to lure Houssem Aouar from Lyon failed over the weekend.
The London club are said to be hoping to free up wages and space in the squad by releasing players.
Meanwhile, Nigerian professional footballer, Victor Moses is set to join Inter Milan on another loan deal on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old’s deal with Chelsea FC is expected to expire in June 2022.
